Early development in Lower Plenty dates from the 1870s. The area's isolation from the major railway routes meant that the most significant period of development was in the post war period.Major features of Lower Plenty include the Lower Plenty shopping centre, Heidelberg and Rosanna Golf Clubs, Odyssey House and the Yarra parklands.
