Designed by Ross Henry, Bend resident, architect and a passionate advocate for living in harmony with your natural surrounds, it specifically meets the requirements of our vendors who wanted to take their living experience of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and give it a distinctly Australian flavour.
Mudbricks hand made on site, reclaimed timbers, corrugated iron and repurposed bricks for floors come together in this quaint, quirky and quintessentially Bend of Islands home in a brilliant union of two surprisingly similar building cultures.
Mudbrick construction (Adobe in Spanish) delivers a variety of curved walls that are sculptures in their own right and deliver on both form and function throughout a practical, well considered floor plan.
Bedrooms are zoned from living spaces where a timber and granite kitchen separates the expansive living zone from a relaxing meals area both complemented by a choice of alfresco spaces overlooking 18.7 acres of bird and wildlife attracting natural bushland.
A large studio provides spaces to work from home or alternatively could work just as well as a teen retreat if desired.
Designed and constructed around energy efficient principles with the walls up to
30 cm in some spots, a single woodfire ensures winter comfort, while flow through ventilation keeps the summer temp at bay. A solar greenhouse (atrium) provides additional warm air when louvres and doors are open.
A garage/workshop rounds out a package that you’ll love to come home to every night!
